Christian Biography of Shirley A. Saar
Shirley Saar, the daughter of Jack and Sophia (Blanchard) Norman, was born on March 20, 1940 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She passed away on November 3, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 7 months, 14 days.
Shirley attended school in Council Bluff, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Gail Saar on March 8, 1967 in Council Bluff, Iowa and to this union a daughter and son was born.
Throughout Shirley's working career, she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Council Bluffs, and was also a homemaker raising her family.
Shirley loved to knit and crochet; and she was an avid collector of Native American items. She also enjoyed playing cards and most of all spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.
Preceded in death were her parents Jack and Sophia and her sister Jacqueline Smith as well as other relatives.
Survivors include her husband Gail of Superior, Nebraska; daughter Kristi Hashberger and husband Robert Keith of Mankato, Kansas and son Stevie Saar of Superior, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of family and friends
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.
Native Spirit recordings were played.
Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
