Christian Biography of Steven Kevin Long
Steven Kevin Long, the son of Jack and Irene (Greenwood) Long, was born on December 26, 1956 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He departed his life at his home on May 17, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Steve moved with his parents from their home in Concordia, Kansas to Chester, Nebraska in January 1964. He enrolled in the Chester Public School system, later to become Chester-Hubbell-Byron and he graduated with the class of 1975. Steve attended the University of Nebraska and also Kearney State College later moving to Hubbell, Nebraska where he joined his father in the Hubbell Bank.
In 1990, Steve married Sandra Freese. To this union their son James was born. Some years later, Steve moved to Lincoln where he lived until his death. Steve was an avid Husker football fan and he loved to hunt and fish in his earlier years.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents J.D. and Nona Long, Rose and Earl Greenwood, and step-grandfather Henry Wehrman, Uncle and Aunts Guy and Betty Swanson, Ann Greenwood Snyder, Cousin LeAne Chab and step-son Jordan Gausman.
He is survived by his parents Jack and Irene Long, son James and wife Meaghan and Grandson Carter, and Uncle Russ Snyder and a host of very special cousins and friends.
Memorial services were held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 am from the United Methodist Church in Chester, Nebraska with Rev. Young Je Kim officiating.
Music was "Hymn of Promise," solo by Pastor Kim and congregational hymns "Because He Lives," and "He Touched Me," with Kathy Larkins as the Accompanist.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may go to Chester United Methodist Trustees; the People's City Mission or the Clinic with a Heart both in Lincoln, Nebraska
