Christian Biography of Ted Madson

Theodore Roosevelt Madson, the son of Mogens and Blanche (Mellick) Madson, was born on January 15, 1921 on a farm near Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on July 1, 2013 at Grand Island Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 5 months, 16 days.

Ted attended the Redline School west of Nelson and Nelson High School. He was united in marriage to Donna Anderson. He was inducted into the US Army on September 12, 1940 and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1945. Ted farmed all his life in the Nelson area. He worked for the Nuckolls County Road and Bridge Department and also ran the City Compactor for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son Terry Madson and wife LaDene of Nelson, Nebraska and daughter Marlys Hendershot and husband Dennis of Kingsville, Texas. Two grandchildren, Sara Van Cleave and husband Jack of Lincoln, Nebraska and Christy Freouf and husband Adam of Ericson, Nebraska. Two great-grandchildren, Parker and Casey Freouf along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, Nebraska.

Visitation was held on July 2, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family greeting friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Interment with full military rites was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to in lieu of flowers to the Grand Island Veterans home in care of the Activities Department
