Obituary

Christian biography of Vera Mae (Ritchie) Duncan

Vera left us Wed. Oct 10, 2018 to go to her heavenly rewards. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Vera was in declining health and got very ill after the unexpected death of her oldest son Scott 27 days ago from cancer, (Scott was diagnosed just 7 weeks before his death).

Vera was 84 years old, born April 3, 1934 to William Arthur Ritchie and Estella Faye (Doane) Ritchie in Flagler, CO. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Duncan and three remaining children, Paulette Taylor and husband Larry, Elaine McCallum and husband David, Kenneth Ray Duncan and Scott's wife Pat Duncan. Vera and Kenneth have 14 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Vera was the last surviving child out of 8 siblings, and is survived only by 1 sister in law, Lorraine Ritchie of San Antonio, TX.

Her ministries were many and her faith in God was strong. She was Nebraska's State President for the American Baptist Women for 3 years and served as an advisor to that office for several more years. Kenneth and Vera held various positions with the Gideon's Organization and served with Gideon's for approximately 44 years. She worked for Good Samaritan Home in Superior, Ne for 26 years as a Food Services Supervisor.

Vera and Kenneth lived in Flagler Co for the early part of their marriage and moved to Superior, NE in 1969. In Jan of this year they sold their home in Superior and moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, NE.
