Christian Biography of Vergie I. Chudomelka
Vergie Inez Chudomelka, of Fremont, formerly of Scribner, was a self-made woman, born on December 20, 1914 in Dodge, Nebraska to Julius and Ruby (Middleton) Young. She passed away on December 10, 2012 in Guide Rock, Nebraska at the age of 97 years, 11 months, 20 days.
Vergie graduated from Dodge High School. She was united in marriage to Clarence Chudomelka and then after raising her children Jack Young, Kurt Chudomelka and Nancy Reppert, she graduated magna cum laude from Midland College and went on to teach school children for 31 years in Oakland. After retiring from teaching, she became interested in real estate where some of her purchases for renters were Uncle Sam's (Antiques Shop at 123 E. Sixth St. in Fremont) and numerous locations at Platte Avenue, Pebble, Military, C Street, 14th Street and I Street.
Vergie was a member of the Teachers Association and Izaak Walton League of America, an active member of volunteering at the mission and a member of the Congregational and Nazarene Church. She had been living with her son, Jack, and beloved daughter in-law (with Love), Lorraine Young, for the past 6 1/2 years enjoying in good health many activities such as cooking, gardening, nature watching, reading and collecting recipe books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Nancy Reppert, two brothers Allen and Marvin and sister Gladys Young.
She is survived by her sons Jack Young and wife Lorraine of Guide Rock, Nebraska and Kurt Chudomelka and wife Connie of Fremont, Nebraska; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.
Private family service will be held.
