Christian Biography of Vernon E. Mohler

Vernon Eugene Mohler, 89, graduated from this life on Monday, September 10, 2018 at his residence in Kingswood Court, Superior, Nebraska. He passed from the loving arms of his daughter Jacalyn into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Vernon was born November 15, 1928 in Formoso, Kansas to Harold and Sylvia (Hyde) Mohler. He attended Shadynook and Butler Rural County Schools, Montrose High School and graduated from Formoso High School in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane (Andrews) Mohler on June 4, 1950. On January 12, 1951, he was inducted into the US Army, Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division, which included a tour of duty in West Germany. In 1959, Vernon graduated from Fort Hays State College in Hays Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Vernon's career included: High School Science, Social Studies and Woodshop Teacher, Agra, KS. Kansas Farm Bureau Fire Adjuster/Inspector, Garden City, KS, Owner/Operator of Mohler Service, Superior, NE and Maintenance Technician, Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, NE.

In 1983, he was baptized in the Republican River by Pastor Robert Albin and was a 20-year member of Grace Community Evangelical Free Church in Superior where he served as the church treasurer for many years. He also served on the Brodstone Memorial Board of Directors. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, learning and using his personal computer.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Sylvia Mohler, his wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Mohler, infant son, Arlen Eugene Mohler, infant brother Forest Mohler, brother Virgil Mohler and sister, Mona (Mohler) Hoard, Sister-in-law: Ada Mohler, brothers-in-law: Keith Hoard, Leland Turner, Duane Wiley, Marvin Andrews, Ken Fricke, Billy J. Andrews and nieces: Becky Jo (Mohler) Huber, Iris Mae Mohler, and Gloria Ann (Mohler) Massey, nephew, Michael Mohler and great granddaughter, Lauryn Trautman.

He is survived by: Children: Verna Jane (Mohler) Nott and husband Ron of Colorado Springs, CO, Wendell Mohler and wife Susan of Pikeville, TN, Jocelyn (Mohler) Shroyer and husband Steven of Superior, NE and Jacalyn (Mohler) Trautman and husband Lyle of Hoskins, NE. Two sisters, Marian (Mohler) Turner of Hastings, NE and Eva (Mohler) Wiley of Cawker City, KS, Two Sisters-in-law, Alicia (Andrews) Fricke of Lawrence, KS and Carole (Woodson) Andrews of Cheney, KS.

Grandchildren: Troy Bauer and wife Christine, Tami Stalnaker and husband Pat, Tabitha Auten and husband Blake, Bill Mohler and wife Jenny, Trenton Trautman and wife Laura, Blake Barry and wife Melissa, Levi Trautman and wife Andrea, Phillip Barry and wife Sara, Nathan Trautman and wife Nicole, Clint Shroyer and wife Jeanel.   Great Grandchildren Kady and Christopher Bauer, Cory Martin and husband Will, Kaleigh and Justin Robinson, Julia Mohler and Lucy Roberts, Cassidy, Alexis, and Taylor Mohler, Jason and Torie Trautman, Cailyn and Cayce Barry, Graycen, Ashlyn, Brooklyn and Logan Trautman, Tarissa, Dean and Adalynn Barry, Fayte and Bastian Trautman. Great Great Granddaughter: Cambria Burke, many nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers.

Vernon was a kind, patient, honest and respected Christian man who lived a long and blessed life on this earth. He was a beloved father who longed to join his wife in the presence of our Lord Jesus in Heaven.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor David Johnson officiating.

Music was recordings of "I'll fly Away" "I Can Only Imagine," and "On Eagles Wings."

Visitation was held on Thursday from to 6-8 with the family present to greet friends.

Pallbearers were Troy Bauer, William Mohler, Trent Trautman, Levi Trautman, Nathan Trautman, Blake Barry, Phillip Barry and Clint Shroyer. Honorary Pallbearers were Tamera Stalnaker, Tabitha Auten, Pat Stalnaker and Blake Auten.

Interment with Military Honors was in the Balch Cemetery west of Formoso, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Community Evangelical Free Church.
