Christian Biography of Vicki J. Poppe
Vicki Jean Poppe, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Edgar) Schriner, was born on August 29, 1949 in Red Cloud, Nebraska. She passed away on February 24, 2019 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 69 years, 5 months, 26 days.
Vicki attended school at Hastings and Riverton. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron, Nebraska and baptized as an adult on December 14, 1980. On December 15, 1979 she was united in marriage to Richard Poppe at Byron.
Vicki was a homemaker, and she worked part-time at the Food Basket. Throughout her lifetime, Vicki lived in Riverton, Hastings, Denver, Colorado, Hubbell and Byron. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, crocheting and taking care of her bird "Charlie."
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Leona; her daughter Debra, her brother Roger Schriner and her sister Glenda Stokes.
Survivors include her husband Richard; her son Toby Williamson of Goodland, Kansas; and daughters Tammy Kearns and husband Barry of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and Lisa Devine of Hastings, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Amanda, Michael, Heather, Kayla, Shelby, Skyler, Emily, Tobi and Allison; 10 great grandchildren: Toni Nicole, Jackson, Zinaya, Dravon, Adrian, William, Brantly Soren, Silver and Vili; and her two sisters Gaylene Hill of Minden, Nebraska and Dianna Wilhelms of Oxford, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron, Nebraska with Pastor Breen Marie Sipes officiating.
Music was "Amazing Grace" and congregational hymns were "In The Garden" and "Softly and Tenderly" with Crystal Krenke as the accompanist. A recording of "Dancing In The Sky" was played.
Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
Pallbearers were Edward Stump, Everett Stump, Bradley Stump, Jack Hill, Kenneth Poppe, Doug Watkins and Ryan Bohling. Honorary Pallbearers were Amanda Schoky, Michael Ough, Heather Daggett, Shelby Lamb, Tobi Devine, Allison Devine, Kayla Shoemaker, Skylar Eppens and Emily Melvin.
Interment was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Byron, Nebraska.
A memorial has been established and may go in care of the family.
