Christian Biography of Victor W. Meyer

Victor Wayne Meyer, the son of John and Frances (Davis) Meyer, was born on November 28, 1927 in Oak, Nebraska. He passed away on October 22, 2013 at Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 24 days.

Victor attended Oak school and graduated from Nelson High School in 1945. He married Carol Avers on January 30, 1949. After high school, he began farming with his father and continued to farm in Northeast Nuckolls County until his retirement.

He was a member of the Oak Community Church, Masonic Lodge of Oak, Nebraska Quarterhorse Association and founding board member of the Nebraska Quarterhorse Racing Association. Some of his happiest moments were spent training his granddaughters to ride and show horses. His greatest enjoyment was his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Naomi (Jens) Hansen, Helen (Paul) Grupe, Jean (Merton) Urbauer, brother John E. (Vecelia) Meyer, infant brother Robert Meyer and two infant granddaughters, Kristen and Karla Staab.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Edgar, Nebraska; daughter Victoria Staab and husband Stanley, son Chris Meyer and wife Teresa, grandchildren Brandi Rossman and husband Jared, Adam Staab, Rochelle Schoneberg and husband Dustin, Sonja Ross and husband Lance, Matraca Meyer and special friend Kane Keller; great grandchildren Kellen and Taylor Rossman, Hadley and Macoy Schoneberg and Madden Ross; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Oak Community Church in Oak, Nebraska with Pastor Keith Brich officiating.

Music was "Precious Lord Take My Hand," and ""Sweet Hour of Prayer," with Cloma Corman as organist.

Book signing on Thursday 1:00 to 8:00 at Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior.

Pallbearers were Adam Staab, Dustin Schoneberg, Jared Rossman, Kellen Rossman, Lance Ross and Kane Keller. Honorary Pallbearers were Brandi Staab-Rossman, Rochelle Meyer-Schoneberg, Sonja Meyer-Ross and Matraca Meyer.

Interment was in the Davenport City Cemetery at Davenport, Nebraska.
