Christian Biography of Ward Aurand

Ward Wilson Aurand, the son of Eugene and Lelia (Schnitker) Aurand, was born on March 2, 1923 in Courtland, Kansas. He passed away on July 18, 2022 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 99 years, 4 months, 16 days.

Ward attended school at Big Bend District 122 in Republic County. He was a lifetime farmer in the Courtland community. He was united in marriage to Ilene Charlotte Fangmeyer on August 8, 1987 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy and the Elks and Eagles Clubs in Superior.

He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Lelia; his wife Ilene on October 29, 2018; infant sister Orba and his brother Glen.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Helen Aurand of Courtland, Kansas; step-daughter Shirley Payne of Hastings, Nebraska and step-son Steve (Judy) Hespen of Carriere, Mississippi; nieces, nephews Karen Hinkle of Boone, Iowa; Clay (Gina) Aurand of Belleville, Kansas; Jana (Jim) Brennecke of Ankeny, Iowa and Marilyn Aurand of Courtland, Kansas; great nieces and nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
