Christian Biography of Wilfred H. Miller

Wilfred H. Miller, the son of Levi and Josephine (Kimminau) Miller, was born on October 5, 1930, in Cunningham, Kansas. He passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska, just after celebrating his 95th birthday.

As an infant, Willie was baptized in Willowdale, Kansas. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to St. Stephen's, where he attended parochial school and was nurtured in the Catholic faith and being confirmed at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.  His love for God and service to others was evident throughout his life.

Wilfred, along with his twin brother Alfred, was inducted into the United States Army faithfully serving his country. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went on to serve in the United States Navy, continuing his dedication to duty and patriotism. While in the service he married the love of his life, Helen Howard, on December 29, 1956, in Superior, Nebraska. Together, they built a strong and faith-filled family, raising seven children. Their home was a place of love, prayer, and service.

Throughout his working years, Willie was employed at various local businesses in Superior, including the Superior Greenhouse, Mid-America Dairy, the Ideal Cement Plant (until its closure), and LTT Telephone Company. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family.

A devoted Catholic, Willie had a deep reverence for his faith. He was an avid collector of religious artifacts, and statues restoring them, in which he lovingly displayed in his home. His passion culminated restoring their beautiful Victorian Home and building a small chapel on his property, beautifully adorned with statues and sacred items from churches in the area. The chapel was later blessed and named St. Michael the Archangel, becoming a quiet place of worship and reflection for many. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, clocks and refinishing furniture. His beautiful yard landscaped with trees, and flowers for the many birds he loved to watch.

He had among all of his many friends a lot of priests and nuns, whom were special to him and his family. Many trips were taken to the Nazareth Convent for visits. He was a member of St.  Joseph's Catholic Church and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Casey Assembly 599,

When his health began to decline, Willie moved to Kingswood Court, where he lived for several years before transitioning to the Superior Good Samaritan Society. Surrounded by care and compassion, he entered eternal rest there.

Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen; his parents, Levi and Josephine; his son, Joe; 2 grandsons Jeffrey Miller and Joby Hanson; and his brothers Vince, Eugene, and Bernard (Joan) Miller. Also preceding him were his brothers-in-law Jerome Mazour, Bill Rowley, and Glen Hulet.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and service. Surviving him are his children: Susan (Kenny) Price, Ivan (Nancy) Miller, Peg (Doug) Grabast, Polly (Greg) Drohman, Nancy (Craig) Hollister, and Mike (Kristin) Miller; daughter-in-law Janet Miller; 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Bernice Miller, Rita Miller, Alfred (Agnes) Miller, Rose Rowley, Betty Mazour, and Marge Hulet.

Willie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends who will remember him for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering faith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10:30 am from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Adam Sparling and Rev. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Lector will be Jaden Hanson and Acolyte will be Jerry Miller with Altar Servers Nolan Meyer and Abram Carter. Honor Guard by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Casey Assembly 599.

The rosary recited at 10:00 am before his funeral.

Music is "How Great Thou Art," and "On Eagle's Wings," congregational hymns, and solo "Ave Maria," sung by Arnold Miller, with "Here I Am Lord," sung by Malori Grabast, Brooklynn Grabast and Cailey Hanson with Jacki Porter as the accompanist.

Pallbearers are Cameron Grabast, Duncan Brown, Nick Miller, Nathan Drohman, Zachary Hollister, Andrew Miller and Gabe Miller.  Honorary Pallbearers are Jon Miller, Jay and Jasmine Miller, Amelia Rylko special friend of Duncan Brown, Kyle, Amanda and Ashlyn Van Norman, Stephanie, Malori and Brooklynn Grabast, Kevin and Christin Ayers and Jaden and Cailey Hanson, Sheena Drohman, Dani Snyder and Avett and Luca Drohman, Brandon and Jessica and Jon and Harper Hollister, Nicole, Savannah, Raelynn and Lyla Hollister, Brandon and Amber French, Jason, Rebekah and Nala Hushin, Sarah and Josie and Jett Grigsby, Joe and Ally Miller and Jack, Jonah, Lily and Hattie Miller, Haylee Miller, Ashley Jacobson special friend of Gabe and Abigail Miller and special friend Roam Thiluang.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
