Christian Biography of William "Bill" Sanford Anderson Sr.

William "Bill" Sanford Anderson Sr., the son of Andrew and Bertha (Price) Anderson, was born on September 2, 1915 in Oak, Nebraska. He passed away on January 24, 2014 at Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 4 months, 22 days.

He grew up on the family farm and attended Kelly School located near the family farm. When he was 17 he rented land and started farming on his own.

He was united in marriage to Edith Forslund on April 9, 1938 in Mankato, Kansas. To this union 5 children were born, Bill Jr., and infant son who died at birth, Sharon, Robert and Gene. Bill and Edith farmed near Oak until moving to Superior in 1974. After retiring to Superior he worked on small engines and enjoyed gardening. Bill had a lifelong interest in livestock and farming. He enjoyed taking drives in the country to see the crops growing and being harvested and cattle in the pastures.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edith on September 19, 1998, an infant son, grandson Greg Anderson, son-in-law, Kendell Seeba, brothers, Clark, Charlie and Bert Anderson and sisters, Winnie Johnson, Lena Swanstrom and Mabel Korbelik.
He is survived by his children, William Anderson Jr. and wife Peggy of Superior, Nebraska, daughter Sharon Seeba of Hastings, Nebraska, son Robert Anderson and wife Marylene of Elm Creek, Nebraska and a son Gene Anderson of Gillette, Wyoming, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 1:00 pm from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.

Music was a recording of "The Old Rugged Cross" with Carlita Price as organist.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Kurt Bivens, Craig Anderson, Brian Anderson, Mike King, John Melton and Brock Melton.

Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to the Spring Creek Cemetery or the Superior Good Samaritan Society.
